Elevate Your Escape at Koti Resort, Mashobra

Koti Resorts enjoys a peaceful and picturesque location on the rugged forest area in Mashobra. The scenic location and breathtaking views makes this place worth visiting.

The resort is easily accessed via Himachal roadways from Chandigarh. The drive from Chandigarh is a scenic 4 hours journey. We stayed for one night at the resort and would recommend this place for its hospitality, world class cuisine, plush rooms with gorgeous views and activities in and around the property.

Koti’s setting is a welcome respite from the urban hustle and bustle that most tourists will experience when travelling to Shimla. The resort is located on a hilly, forested patch of land that overlooks the blue skies and drifting clouds.

From the resort’s entrance, a winding driveway leads to the welcome pavilion, curving up to a lovely garden lined with seasonal flowers and plants, hereby setting the scene for the rest of the property, which is rich in greenery and foliage.

Upon arrival at the resort, I was greeted by the General Manager. Koti has been curated about 3 decades back. The resort’s architecture is based on a contemporary interpretation. The traditional tiled roofs and dark-stained cedar exterior walls is reflective of the simple nature-influenced design of Himachal Pradesh’s traditional homes. All of the resort’s rooms are elegantly appointed in a composition of understated simplicity with interiors that are warm and carefully crafted in timber wood.

The resort’s rooms are scattered around the resort ground. As you enter via a reception area, it leads to the hotel’s only restaurant, followed by a recreation area and the bar, both featuring the resort’s signature minimalist décor. The courtyard provides panoramic views over the resort grounds and snowcapped mountains at a distance.

It’s a very easy walk from the ground towards the rooms. The rooms are clustered with a complex housing the leisure and dining facilities in between. The resort is comprised of 54 rooms, all of which overlook the mountains or the gardens. During my visit, we stayed their premium room, which enjoyed stunning mountain views. The room itself featured a very comfortable king-sized bed, chairs with table, and a dressing table.  The setting reflects heritage and simplicity.

There were floor-to-ceiling windows in the bedroom, allowing for generous views of the surroundings while letting in the lovely sun rays. The room’s décor was reminiscent of a traditional Himachal design, because of the natural materials, teak wood, huge ceilings, soothing tones and subtle drapes in woven textile.

The bathrooms at Koti feature stone tiles and have one sink, a rain shower, and a massive granite bath. The tub with Jacuzzi is perfect to relax and refuel.

Dining at Koti resort

Koti has only one restaurant, which can seat 50 guests at full capacity and is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It offers delicious Indian and continental cuisine. A team of chefs – headed by their executive chef, who comes with a vast experience, are responsible for creating the menu which changes daily based on the fresh produce available. Be sure to try their wood fire Pizza, that are a perfect blend of presentation and taste.

Activities in and around the property

Besides the indoor pool activities, there guided treks that one can enjoy. Guests can also visit the Himachal Institute of Apple and Research. The place blooms with seasonal flowers and beautiful garden where you can enjoy the sun setting.

Our day ended with a nice bonfire in the Bar lounge area, where the chef prepares mouthwatering kebabs and tikkas.

The place is great for people who enjoy good scenic views and great food.
