Trishvam Tapovana – A Luxury resort in Sakleshpura

Set on Sakleshpura’s secluded yet pristine location surrounded by coffee plantations, Trishvam Tapovana Resort & Spa is a sanctuary of modern design and rugged natural beauty.

Trishvam Tatvam harnesses Karnataka’s pristine natural beauty and charm through an awe-inspiring location. The property sits majestically atop a cliff surrounded by coffee plants, pepper trees.

The untouched part of Karnataka, Sakleshpura offers a blissfully tranquil landscape where you can still discover the regal heritage, while enjoying nature’s bounty. Here, majestic mountains tower over emerald-green rice paddies and traditional villages. It’s a miracle that Sakleshpura survived the tourist hype almost unscathed.

The resort is 4 hours from Bangalore International airport and the resort provides transfer in luxury sedans.

Opened in 2012, the resort features a breezy, contemporary design. A modern interpretation of a vision to seamlessly blend in with its spectacular location is achieved by inviting endless views into living spaces.

Cascading down the cliffside, luxurious suites, pool villas and hill view cottages blend innovation and indulgence with panoramic views of the forest. Lazy days are spent at the infinity pool or at the Spa, where signature rituals are inspired by Ayurveda.

The property has cottages and villas set along tiered steps. The open-walled space in the lobby features a minimalist decor with tree trump-alike chairs and traditional art work adorning the wall that is reached by a grand, stone staircase, flanked by large planters.

The resort features hilltop view cottages, heritage thottimane that has a traditional Malnad style of architecture reflecting the local culture and heritage, Valley View Villas, luxury villas and private pool villas.

During my holiday, I stayed in three different categories, all having surreal views.

The hilltop cottage on my first day of the experience comes with a balcony providing a panoramic overview of the resort up to the reception.

The cottage featured a large bedroom with bed sides and an ensuite bathroom. Its interior combined touches of minimalist design with warm accents of indigenous Traditional culture. The cottage took full advantage of its prime view setting with full-length glass doors attached with the balcony.

My second day was at the Thottimane cottage. The main structure of the cottage is inspired by Malnad style of architecture – with its monolithic stone blocks, traditional thatched roof pavilions, and exotic carved woods. Murals and art forms adorn the courtyard walls, giving it a homely feel.

This space is perfect for big families, where they can reside in separate rooms, yet stay connected in the same courtyard. The rooms in the thottimane category feature a canopied king-size bed, a window, a bathroom with luxury essentials and a rain shower. The balcony of these rooms opens to beautiful valley views.

Private pool villas

On my third day at the property, I experienced the Private pool villa that comes with a living room, two bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms and an attached pool with spectacular views to gaze into. The rooms are spacious, complete with poster beds, a dressing table, coffee tables and chairs, and a sliding door leading to the pool.

Infinity Pool

The resort features one of the most elegant pools I have ever seen at a luxury hotel in all my years of traveling.  Cascading down from the lobby, a few steps away takes you to the main pool area.

Laid out in dark blue tiles and offering spectacular views, the infinity swimming pool echoes Sakleshpura’s terraced rice paddies and the free flowing coconut trees.

E

ncircled by gorgeous wooden decking, the infinity pool seems to dangle at the edge of the horizon, hereby merging with the deep green forest cover. There are enough loungers for all guest, as well as a poolside bar.

Activities

In case you don’t like to lounge around the pool, the resort also offers other leisure activities to keep you busy during the day, such as carrom board, dart board, hiking to keep families and groups occupied.

If you love to explore, a visit to the nearby village is a must. Here you will be welcomed by warm and hospitable families that greet you with open arms and open hearts. There are several things to experience, like pepper drying, coffee seeds plucking, stroking the cattle and pets owned by the villagers. Later, you would be welcomed by a whiff of soothing aroma from the coffee plants. Each coffee plant is layered by white flowers that have the most magnificent fragrance. There are seasonal flowers too that one can enjoy looking. The path towards the village is beautiful, moving across tiny villages and paddy fields.

In the evening, guests can enjoy daily complimentary High- tea, served with cookies and sandwiches, while enjoying a sun-downer in the property itself.

Nirvana – The Ayurveda Spa

Designed to reflect a traditional Southern abode, the resort’s spa is located a few steps downwards, where the views look surreal.

The Spa offers a tranquil sanctuary for relaxing, invigorating beauty and wellness odysseys. Individual treatments and signature sequences are performed by highly trained therapists, to suit each guest’s needs and mood.

The extensive treatment menu pays tribute to ancient wellness secrets from South India. The spa has 2 treatment rooms for single guests, each one for male and female. At the spa I experienced Shirodhara – a traditioanal massage from Kerala that is done by pouring oil on the forehead. The oil simmers inside the hair follicles, allowing guests to drift into a deep sleep. This therapy is perfect for people suffering with insomnia, migrane or any psychological problems. The abhyangam massage is a rhythemic massage to accentuate the pressure points of the body. The 45 minute massage allows deep relaxation of the body.

Dining

Trishvam Tapovan features one main restaurant, offering mountain and forest views. Situated a few steps from the poolside, the restaurant is the resort’s all-day dining venue. This wood-trimmed loft space with open kitchen serves up an array of South Indian specialties that are worth indulging in.

The restaurant is also the place where you will start your day with an energizing breakfast buffet, complete with dips, cereals, breads, south Indian delicacies like dosas, uttapams, idli, appam and much more.

The buffet also includes a live cooking demonstration, where the executive chef gladly prepares southern delicacies for guests.

During my stay, I relished the Thaali for lunch that comprised of rice, sambar, rasam, and curd with porial, kootu, varuval, appalam, payasam, vadai & pickle.

Dinner sees exquisitely created dishes like poriyal, village style milagu rasam, cabbage poriyal, cabbage thoran, cabbage palya. There are endless verities to the dishes all lined up to satiate the palette and soul.

Trishvam Tapovan – perfect for MICE venues

The resort is also a beautiful wedding venue, commanding a panoramic view. This modern venue is popular for weddings and corporate events.  For a destination wedding, this venue has the perfect view of the setting sun as the background, adding a dramatic entry to the bride.

The resort is perfect for people looking for a getaway from the city’s hectic life. The slow life immersed in nature’s setting helps in digital detox as well. You can contact them here for enquiries on booking and reservations.
