Taste of Thai @ The Eros Hotel

Thai food has always enticed me with its mesmerizing flavors
and wholesome ingredients that pleases the palette and satiate the taste buds. When
Eros Delhi invited me to review their Thai food festival at Blooms, their all
day dining restaurant, I couldn’t refuse.


Be it the cultural heritage, dining etiquettes or
traditional customs that boast of a rich past, the hospitality of Thailand is
well-regarded amongst the travelers around the world.
As a tribute to their historical glory, the Executive Chef,
Nikhil Rastogi has curated a Thai Food Festival that offers an elaborate buffet
spread of authentic Thai recipes perfected with color, texture and the balance
of five flavors – sweet, sour, salty, bitter and umami.
We reached the place to be welcomed with a lovely Thai
ambiance.

There were songs and dances going on that reverberated the Thai
culture. A warm welcome by the PR team and chef Nikhil made us feel comfortable.

They ushered us outdoors, where a flamboyant array of Thai
dishes were displayed. The courteous and hospitable staff from the Thailand Tourism
helped us to walk through the different traditional elements of their country while
the chefs proudly displayed their cooking styles.  The Ambassador of Thailand was also visiting with his family. I loved how everyone greet each other with folded hands and bow down in respect. The tradition is as similar to Indians


The Menu included the following dishes :
Salad Bar –
 
Somtam (Raw Papaya Salad) – Thai papaya salad with roasted
peanuts, carrots and long leans in a chilli – lemon dressing
Yum pla krob mamuang (Crispy Fish Mango Salad)
Deep fried crispy fish with spicy mango salad with onion and
peanuts
Larb Gai ,(minced chicken salad)
Thai minced chicken with roasted sticky rice and peanuts
Thai Grill Counter –
 
Choice of Vegetarian and Non vegetarian – It is a dish of
Southeast Asia Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand. Satay may consist of diced or
sliced chicken, goat, mutton, beef, pork, fish, other meats, or tofu;
Zucchini, pineapple and cheery tomato, cottage cheese
&bell pepper, Mushroom and cauliflower, fried tofu with Potato, Apple and
Pineapple,Brocoli with Mushroom
Non Veg –
 
Gai satay (Chicken)chicken satay marinated with lemon grass
,galangal , light soya sauce milk, salt , turmeric powder
Goong (prawn) marinated with lemon grass, galangal, light
soya sauce milk, salt, and turmeric powder
Pae  (lamb ) marinated
with lemon grass ,galangal , light soya sauce milk, salt, turmeric powder with
Peanut sauce , sweet chili sauce , Thai chilli dressing
Curry Section –
 
Selection of vegetables broccoli, baby corn, zucchini,
carrots sprouts, and mushroom, straw Mushroom, white fungus, black fungus,
shitake Mushroom, bamboo shoots, water chestnut steamed Jasmine Rice.
Kaeng ga rhue phak(Mixed vegetables in yellow curry coconut
powder , palm sugar, kafir lime, salt)
Kaeng khiew waan kai(chicken in red curry coconut powder ,
palm sugar, kafir lime, salt
Goong samun prai( Sweet & sour tamarind prawn with green
curry crisp thai basil curry coconut powder , palm sugar, kafir lime, salt)
Fry Counter –
 
Thod man khao phod (corn cake)- Deep fried corn cake served
with cucumber salad
Pho pia phak (Vegetable Spring Rolls) – Crispy fried vegetable
spring rolls served with sweet chilli sauce
Kiew thod (Crispy Wonton) -Deep fried minced vegetables
wrapped wonton served with sweet chilli sauce
Thod man pla (Fish Cake)
Deep fried fish cake served with peanut cucumber sauce
Kra thong tong gai (Chicken Golden Baskets)
Delicate Golden Baskets with filling of chicken and
vegetables
Kra thong tong goong (Prawn Golden Baskets)
