Taj View Agra : A pet friendly IHCL SeleQtions Hotel

Overview

If you are looking for a luxury getaway withy your pet, you must consider the Taj View Agra – A seleQtions hotel that promises a great stay coupled with hospitality for your family including along your pet.

Location

The Taj View Agra was immediately our preferred choice as it was in close proximity to the Taj Mahal. The location worked very well, right on the main road and easily approachable.

First Impressions

Our welcome was absolutely wonderful. The staff welcomed us with a chandan tikka, a garland and fresh coconut water as a welcome drink.

If you love dogs, you would meet Max and Maya, the in-house dogs who love greetings guests, and wander round the main hotel. Very friendly babies who loved our furry baby. Our buddy was welcomed by the staff with as much warmth. The hotel has pet minders who take care of dogs like their own and ensure they are well taken care. There are some areas where dogs aren’t allowed – both the restaurants, but you can take them to the sky bar and the pool.

Accommodation

With 92 rooms including suites across the building, this was a really good choice for a two nights stay in Agra. We were upgraded to their Premier Suite, located on the fourth floor, a good choice being able to see the Taj Mahal from the window.

The suite had a beige theme with a king size bed, comfortable sofa with plush cushions’, a desk with stationary and a breathtaking view of the Taj Mahal from their huge windows in the very spacious bedroom.

The bathroom comes with a rain shower, extremely well appointed and supremely clean. There were hand wash, shampoo, conditioner and body moisturize. Besides these, there was also a kit from Forest Essentials with toiletries including moisturizers, lip balm, body cream, foot cream and mist. The brand comes with the tag line ‘ She remains the Taj’.  There was a lot of storage throughout including a large walk in closet.

The Table was covered with a beautiful display of sweet delights and ajar of cookies – a Taj welcome.

Dining

The restaurant / all day dining have spacious seating overlooking the poolside. The tables are well laid out and nicely spaced.  Breakfast was with a standard self-service buffet being set up daily. There was a choice of teas or coffee, fresh juices, and then a separate pastry/croissant table with fresh bakery products. The waffles were absolutely delicious, as was the honey and sour cream which went perfectly with them.

In another area of the restaurant is a large hot buffet serving all sorts of cooked breakfast items; servers will take your orders for hot drinks. As with everything throughout the hotel, service was exemplary where you get hot fresh dishes from the live counter serving dosas, omlettes, waffles and pancakes. It is imperative to take notice of the timing for the buffet when the buffet timing is at busiest.  If you do have to wait to be seated, they very helpfully provide coffee and juice for self-service while you wait, and fresh juices are available in the restaurant all day.

I enjoyed food in the restaurant both days, with a great selection from the A La Carte menu, featuring dishes made with millets (they are promoting millets throughout the month) and some Chinese specialties.  Quality was excellent as was portion size, with variants as vivid as your expectations. The first day we enjoyed chef’s Chinese specialties that were an excellent amalgamation of taste and presentation. The next day we had a delicious breakfast that had a spread of millets prepared in coconut milk and a delicious ragi dosa. Chef Sanjay Aggarwal comes with an extensive experience in culinary expertise. He has worked with Taj since decades.

The dinner was extravagant at Jharokha with a thaali that comprised of lentils , dry vegetables, curd, rice and desserts.

The Sky deck on the terrace overlooks the city view and has some of the finest cocktails to offer. We loved our drinks while enjoying the fresh air on the terrace. The bar offers a whole selection of drinks in addition to quite an extensive wine menu.

Facilities & Service

Apart from two fabulous restaurants, there were other facilities and services for guests.  There was a large pool with lounges where one can easily relax and enjoy drinks, a library space with interesting books to read while enjoying a hot cup of coffee, a spa area where you can relax with some of the finest therapeutic massages and a huge garden where you can play with kids or your pet.

Jiva – The Spa

If there is a spa that I would highly recommend, it would have to the Jiva Spa at Taj View. Not only is the therapy worth praising, but the vibe and aesthetics blend well with the hospitality.

As I walked towards the spa, I was floored with the spacious area nicely maintained. A fountain in the center adds to the wellbeing factor, while the soothing warm lights evoke a calming sensation. The rooms are spacious, with a tub for couples, a bed with soft pillows, and a large urn to dip the feet while the therapist washes the feet with aromatic herbs.

The massages therapy is worth appreciating. The therapists are well trained with their professions and ensure the service is well executed. I had chosen the signature therapy that included soft rhythmic strokes belonging well with acupressure with healing touch. The aromatic oils help in getting rid of stress and stiffness in the body.

The overall experience at Taj View Agra was phenomenal. We took with us memories of hospitality and warmth from the hotel.
