First Impressions

As you walk towards the fine dining restaurant, a beautiful vibe welcomes you. The vast open spaces with ceiling to floor windows usher in warm sunlight – a treat in winters. The area is beautifully designed keeping in mind guests’ comfort level. Minimalistic design is further accentuated by soft lights and pastel shades on the walls that are covered with huge paintings. The seating is extremely comfortable here. The first floor is usually open to big parties for dinners.

The Hong Kong Club is light and airy by day, serving lunches and brunches along with drinks – and at night it gives a completely different picture. Brunches here are synonymous with soft sounds from a live band that will happily sing to any tune you want them to. We were fortunate to listen to some amazing numbers sung so ardently by the beautiful singer flown from Argentina.

The centre of the restaurant has a beautiful bar taken care by diligent bartenders who create signature recipes to delight the guests. To begin with, we tucked into some refreshing cocktails which whisked us away somewhere else, if only for a few minutes.  Sometime later, dim sums in different shapes and styles were served that looked magnificent and tasted divine. There were not one or two – but six different dimsums that arrived.

We loved gorging on the sinful dimsums while sipping sangria and whiskey sour. The dimsums were all was so well cooked and incredibly indulgent.

The cauliflower red and Chinese cabbage couldn’t have been cooked more perfectly, the fillings were just the right amount and the seasoning of it all was spot on. The chicken and shitake mushroom were again so perfectly cooked. They were so soft and the intensity of flavor running through them was simply stunning. I also loved the Shanghai dimsum – it felt simple, but it was very tasty.

Next to arrive and still in the starters selection were the fried potato with chilli oil – my favorite dish from the brunch menu. The chilled tofu, peanut sauce salad was like biting into freshness and goodness, while the stir fried vegetables in light soy sauce were absolutely beautiful, perfectly cooked. I especially remember that richly flavored glossy glaze.

Make sure you save room for dessert because that is part you should not miss. We enjoyed a delicious platter which we shared. The chocolate cake was of the right thickness, the cream was rich and firm and it was neither too bitter nor too strong.

The best part was the Birthday cake served on occasion of my daughter’s birthday. A melodious song was sung for her while a delicious chocolate truffle cake was served – a perfect ending to a fabulous brunch.

Conclusion

I really enjoyed our brunch at Hong Kong Club. The Chinese dishes are traditional yet modern, but most importantly it feels very welcoming when you dine at an outlet of Andaz. Here hospitality and warmth comes first, the food and drinks are always catered to by default.
