TAB – Enticing food lovers with kababs and more

There are ­­restaurants that

offer great food, while some focus on hospitality. Only a few of them are a
complete package for the diner. The newly opened TAB (The Ancient Barbeque) is a
foodie’s delight with respect to succulent dishes and an amicable environment.
Located in the Good earth City Centre mall, the restaurant is located on the
second floor that has a beautiful ambiance.
With options for indoor and
outdoor seating, TAB is the perfect answer to a dinner date or a fun evening
out with friends and family. The outdoors offer guests a panoramic view of the
bustling Nirvana city and looks mesmerizing in winter evenings.
The weather was rather warm on
the first week of October when we chose to dine at TAB. As we walked towards
the restaurant, a smiling attendant ushered us our table. The manager  greeted us and introduced us to the newly
opened place that has started acquiring a great fan following by people of all
ages. The 170  seater restaurant has a large bar area and a
live singing performance to entertain guests. The area is large, so even a big
gathering on a holiday did not seem crowded.
The restaurant has a good number
of staff to serve guests. The smiling and tireless servers were seen running
here and there to serve diners. Mostly famous for its barbeques, TAB introduces
diners to an array of vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes that are different
from the other places. The buffet menu comprises of Indian, American,
Mediterranean and Oriental cuisines to offer guests variety and freshness.Each table at TAB has a live-grill
barbeque station in the centre with grills to heat the Kababs and Tikkas. Guests can grill their own starters in a
choice of flavors.

Thus began our gastronomical fare
at TAB. Each table at TAB had a pre-set menu of the variety of veg and non-veg kebabs.
The only disadvantage is that there is no option of Ala – Carte to choose from.
Fortunately, that was no problem at all since the pre-set menu covered
everything from starters and soups to the main course. We got a chance to grill
our own kababs with a variety of dips and sauces to add a tangy taste to them.
I personally liked the ginger garlic dip that went well with every starter.

The non-veg kababs are an
exhaustive variety that seemed endless. The first few were chicken, mutton and
fish that were a delight to the taste buds. An interesting starter was the
‘chicken with ulta tawa parantha’ that seemed like a mini meal.
The soups went well with
starters. Devoid of cornflour, the veg and chicken broth accentuated the
complete taste of the meal.We were filled to the brim, but
the main course was still left. The talented singer left us mesmerized with his
brilliant voice and entertained us quite well.
We preferred to pause for some
time with the juices of the starters that won our hearts. A brief halt for
fifteen minutes paved way for the main course. The buffet comprised a variety
of veg and non veg salads. The Indian dishes included paneer, daal, corn
paalak, raita, biryani along with a variety of Indian breads; while the
continental dishes comprised of ratatouille, pasta, mixed vegetables, noodles.
I was not very impressed with the continental and Chinese preparation, but the
Indian cuisine was just perfect.

The Hyderabad biryani was perfect
with roasted onions and nuts that added to the fine aroma and flavor of the
cuisine. My personal favorite was the corn paalak, that was served hot with
cream and went well with a garlic naan.

There is an interesting menu of
drinks however, that reflected the barbecue theme of TAB. I was offered a
watermelon  and  a kiwi based drink that delighted my taste
buds.

We closed the dinner with sweet
nothings like ‘Death by chocolate’, Chocolate mousse, Pineapple cake while the
Indian sweet dishes comprised of gulab
jamun.

The entire experience at TAB was
an unforgettable one. We were elated with the hospitality offered and the food
quality. The place is a must visit for people who are fond of good food and a
congenial atmosphere.
