My Luxury Suite experience at Dev Bagh, Udaipur

Udaipur has always held a magnetic charm for me — the tales of Maharajas, golden sunsets over the lakes, and timeless palaces.

So when I had the chance to spend a few days in a beautiful palatial luxury resort tucked amidst Aravali, I knew I was in for something extraordinary. What I didn’t expect was just how soulful, opulent, and immersive the experience would be.

A Royal Welcome

From the moment I arrived, I was swept into a world of grandeur. The resort — nestled amidst arid hills and age-old fort walls — greeted me with rose petals, aarti, and traditional folk music. Staff dressed in smart attire welcomed me with warm smiles and cool towels scented to cleanse the soul. It felt less like check-in and more like an arrival into a regal era.

The Architecture: Where Heritage Meets Modern Luxury

The architecture of Dev Bagh blended seamlessly with Rajasthan’s heritage — sandstone courtyards, jharokhas (overhanging enclosed balconies), and intricately carved pillars.

My suite overlooked the serene Aravali ranges with an enticing wide pool. The interiors were adorned with rich textiles, hand-painted frescos, and antique-style furniture.

Every detail whispered royalty. Gliding sofas with cushions, coffe table with fruits and views of the hills – an experience worth remembering.

The bathroom alone was a sanctuary — with twin sinks, a huge closet, walk in shower, view of the mountains, and luxurious organic amenities. My most favorite memory was the soft towels with heavenly scents. I felt pampered in every sense.

The soft luxurious beds and with the most comfortable matress, induced a deep sleep ; something that I needed desperately.

Mornings started with a smile on my fact as I drew aside the curtains and took in the beautiful views. After enjoying a cup of tea in the balcony of my suite, I went for luxury bath experience in my private pool.

The attached plunge pool gave me privacy and the luxury of soaking in a therapeutic experience.

Flavors of Rajasthan: A Culinary Journey

Dining at Dev Bagh was a celebration of flavors. The day I arrived, there was an in-room dining experience. Fresh fruits, masala chai, and made-to-order dishes served in the room was an experience worth cherishing.

The lunch a celebration of colors and flavors comprised of a traditional Rajasthani thaali. Every bite was a tribute to traditional Marwari cuisine.

From paapad subzi to gatte ki subzi, the chef redefined authenticity with finesse. Lunch was equally divine. The highlight at Dev Bagh are their signature desserts – made to perfection.

The in-house ice pan ice cream deserved a standing ovation, with rich creamy texture and hints of beetle leaves in each bite.

Wellness, Stillness, and Soulful Moments

I spent most of my time in the pool — a tranquil experience, submerging in water and looking a the clouds as I floated in the enormous pool.

Post-pool experience I sipped on masala tea while watching peacocks wander the gardens — a moment of pure serenity.

Cultural Immersion and Personal Connection

Beyond the comforts and curated luxury, what made the experience memorable was the connection to the land and its people. The guided village walk with a resort staff, interaction with locals, enjoying the view from the top and stories shared by staff over chai offered a beautiful insight into the real Rajasthan.
