Nestled in the heart of Udaipur’s timeless beauty, my recent stay at Historia Royal was nothing short of magical. 

In the heart of the city, this boutique hotel offered an intimate escape that blended royal heritage with contemporary comfort — a perfect blend for the discerning traveler.

A Warm Rajasthani Welcome

The moment I stepped onto the property, I was greeted with a traditional tikka ceremony and a chilled welcome drink. The staff, dressed in traditional attire, exuded warmth and grace, setting the tone for a soulful stay.

Architecture That Tells a Story

The boutique property has a vintage neoclassical-theme to give you a luxurious experience, infused with modern-day amenities. 

From intricately carved jharokhas (windows) to hand-painted frescoes and antique furniture, every corner whispered stories from Rajasthan’s regal past. Yet, the property maintains a strong sense of intimacy — not too large to feel lost, and not too small to feel limited.

A Room with a Soul

My suite opened to views of the busy road, yet exuded a calming space with its cozy vibe. 

The interiors were a celebration of local craftsmanship — think linens,  furniture, and tiles. A king size bed, vintage vibe and a tub in the washroom added a luxurious yet earthy charm.

Culinary Bliss

Dining was a memorable affair.The menu is inspired by seasonal produce and regional Rajasthani flavors — from ker sangri and laal maas to delicate ghewar desserts. The in-house chef prepared a soulful khichdi the first day I checked in. There are two restaurants : Saanjh – roof top dining and Prachin : a cozy dining room decorated in a traditional setting.

Serene Experiences

Beyond the architecture and food, it was the thoughtfully curated experiences that made my stay unforgettable. I indulged in:

The Spa at Praanam, where I experienced a therapeutic massage that helped to glide in comfort and eventually made me fall asleep.

Curated city tour, where I interacted with locals and witnessed traditional crafts firsthand.

Evenings on the rooftop where I was away from the city noise yet enjoyed soulful music amidst refreshing cocktails and continental cuisine, under the starlit sky.

What I loved most was the book shelf that had religeous and self help books.
