Luxury, Comfort & Coastal Bliss – Heritage Village Resort & Spa Goa

There are luxury hotels, and then there are places that quietly redefine what luxury actually feels like. The Heritage Village Resort Goa belongs firmly in the latter category, a sanctuary of tactile beauty, and understated elegance that feels more like an atmosphere than a just another resort.

Heritage Village Resort Goa

Heritage Village Goa looks like the sort of paradise that only a combination of AI and Instagram could create. A paradise with an irresistible aroma of coconut and sundowner cocktails. With direct access to the prime beachfront, there are no roads to cross, no mopeds to sidestep, just easy access to Goa’s second longest beach.

We came back to this hotel five years later and discovered an elevated experience owing to its charm and sophistication with the addition of new restaurants and a luxury spa.

Warm welcome

The welcome starts even before you make eye contact, as you’ll hear the staff sing when you’re still driving towards the entrance. Once you step out of the vehicle, warm smiles, cold towels and a welcome drink all await. Swiftly you are led to the main area which entails the restaurant, bar, lounge easily accessible. It’s all very seamless and once you sit down you’ll fall in love with the place.

Location

Set along the peaceful Arossim beach in Cansaulim, Heritage Village Resort immediately distinguishes itself through its calm, grounded presence. It offers a sense of retreat without feeling completely disconnected from the cultural energy of South Goa.
The property is intimate, with just 2 suites and rooms spread across lush gardens filled with mature trees and soft, filtered light. There is a quietness here that feels intentional. You arrive, and almost instantly, the pace of everything feels calmer. It is not about filling your schedule, it is about letting go of it.

Design rooted in culture and craftsmanship

If design is high on your list, The Heritage Village Resort delivers something truly special. The hotel draws inspiration from the coastal life of Goa – ancient and yet it reinterprets them with a modern sensibility. The result is a refined aesthetic built with finesse that exudes a relaxing feeling the moment you walk in.

Nothing feels excessive. The palette is soft and neutral, allowing textures and craftsmanship to take center stage. Every space feels curated yet effortless, the kind of quiet luxury that does not need to announce itself.

Rooms

Garden facing rooms

After a swift and warm welcome, we are escorted to our room. The resort has 97 to 100 spacious rooms and suites designed to accommodate both corporate guests and leisure travelers. From double-bed guest rooms to suites, comfort prevails.

Warm welcome in the room

A variety of amenities make the hotel a great place to stay. What stands out most is not just the comfort, but the feeling. The rooms are not designed to impress at first glance, they are designed to make you feel at ease, and that is what lingers. Our Garden view room gave a comforting yet luxurious feeling.

Personalized nameplate

The room all painted in soft hues complimented well with bright linen. Our room felt more welcoming with a basket of fruits, a wine bottle and a handwritten note by the GM only to make our presence felt apprecaiated. These are the subtle yet noticeable things Heritage takes care of. A customized nameplate with our names made it feel like “Home”. Outside, the room has a beautiful garden with a set of lounge chairs.

Amenities & activities

Morning Yoga

Leisure amenities feature a fitness center, an Ayurveda spa, an outdoor pool, carts for beach, cycles for entertainment. The hotel ensures to take their guests to extraordinary level of entertainment. For example, the beach picnic with tea, snacks and the beach view is perfect.

Dining that embraces simplicity and flavor

Dining options include on-site restaurants and bars, and 24-hour room service. Food at The Heritage is thoughtful, seasonal, and deeply connected to the region. The main restaurant “Chutney” focuses on Indian and continental cuisine, with influences from neighboring cultures. The approach is refined but respectful, allowing ingredients to shine without overcomplicating the dishes.

Breakfast is a highlight. It is the kind of experience that encourages you to take your time, with a mix of beautifully presented options and made to order dishes.

Breakfast with views

There is no rush, and that slower rhythm becomes part of the overall experience. This is not dining for spectacle. It is dining for enjoyment, for presence, and for connection to place.

Bonita – Continental spread

Authentic superbly sourced food stars at the Bonita restaurant from tropical food options to evening curries. From dawn to beyond dusk, eating al fresco is always an option.

Mama Miso

Beautifully lit and superbly decorated, this restaurant is perfect for lunches and intimate dinners. Satays, hot and sour soup, sushis, dimsums and shrimp rolls are ideal for light lunches. For the ultimate taste of the Andaman Sea there is a maritime banquet fish platter of shrimps, squid, prawns, salmon and side salad.

Embracing the Goan Spirit

oppo_34

The hotel celebrates Goan traditions and heritage through cultural showcases and curated experiences that immerse guests in the diverse stories. This represents a commitment to authentic storytelling, and it allows the visitors to live a true experience with an actual purpose beyond their stay.

oppo_34

We experienced the infamous “pao making workshop” with Soul Traveling that took us to the oldest bakery. What made it exciting was the hands-on approach to baking our own bread, in a man-made oven, more than 100 year old.

A holistic approach to wellness

oppo_34

Wellness at Heritage is not confined to a spa menu, it is woven into the entire experience. The Aruna spa at Heritage focuses on traditional Ayurveda therapies and natural ingredients, offering treatments that feel both grounding and restorative. The setting itself enhances this, with treatment rooms designed to feel quiet, intimate, and connected to nature.

Ayurveda Spa

Beyond the spa, the entire property has a calming effect. Whether you are sitting by the pool, walking through the gardens, or simply enjoying the stillness from your terrace, there is a sense of balance that is hard to replicate.

Service that feels natural and intuitive

Warm friendly service

Service at Heritage Village is warm, attentive, and refreshingly genuine. Each staff has been extremely attentive to our needs and very friendly. Indeed, there is an ease to the way the staff interact with guests. Nothing feels scripted or overly formal. Instead, it is thoughtful and intuitive, with small details noticed and taken care of without drawing attention.

This creates an atmosphere where you feel looked after but never interrupted. It is a subtle but important distinction, and one that defines truly great hospitality.

A location that prioritizes tranquility

oppo_34

The hotel’s slightly removed location is part of its identity. Being outside the busy center of South Goa means you are surrounded by quiet and greenery rather than traffic and crowds.

For many, this is exactly what makes The Heritage Village so appealing. At the same time, the city remains easily accessible by car, making it simple to explore temples, markets, and cafés before returning to the calm of the hotel.

It is a balance that works particularly well for travelers who want both cultural exploration and genuine relaxation.

Final thoughts

Heritage is all about intention, atmosphere, and a deep connection to place. It appeals to those who appreciate design that feels authentic, spaces that feel calm, and experiences that are rooted in culture rather than trends.

In a world where luxury often tries too hard, Heritage feels effortless. And that is precisely what makes it so compelling. To be honest, I treasure each second spent in that lovely place, and I hope to come back again in near future!

Udechee Huts – A family run hotel in Naddi offering Warmth, Heritage & Stunning Views

There are some journeys you take for the destination, and some you take for the feeling they leave behind.

My recent escape to a family-run hotel tucked away in the hills gave me both — breathtaking landscapes and a heartwarming sense of belonging.

It wasn’t just the scenery that stole my heart — it was the warmth and authenticity of staying at this hotel that started 37 years ago, by a couple who believed in giving experiences to guests.

My journey

From the winding mountain roads to the gentle rustle of pine trees, the journey to the hotel felt like a slow unveiling of peace.

There’s something magical about the hills — the crisp mountain air, gurgling waterfalls & steams, clouds drifting lazily over the peaks, and the quiet charm that feels like a gentle embrace.

But nothing could have prepared me for the warmth as the cab reached the hotel.

Warm welcome

After a journey of almost 3 hours, I reach Naddi – a quaint hill station in Himachal.

Perched on a hilltop was a beautiful property called Udechee Huts, surrounded by mountains.

I felt less like a guest checking into a property and more like an old friend coming home.

The staff & the owner, with a genuine smile, welcomed me warmly. A smiling lady welcomed me with a tikka and an arti, the Himachal way.

A refreshing tall lemonade drink took away the tiredness from the long journey. In that instant, I knew this was going to be more than just a stay — it would be an experience.

Udechee – A Hillside Haven with Character

The hotel, perched on a hilltop overlooking valleys shrouded in morning mist, with sweeping views of mist-kissed valleys, had an old-world charm that hospitality brands can rarely replicate.

Udechee is a beautiful blend of heritage charm and comfort. Handcrafted wooden furniture, colourful local textiles in the lounge give it a cosy, lived-in feel.

The vintage furniture and a smoke free fireplace adds to the special attention to the comfort of guests.

Each detail tells a story — from the antique heirlooms that passed down through decades to wooden beams, handwoven rugs to little touches of local art told stories of generations who had lived and loved here.

Every corner seemed to carry a piece of the family’s history — the antique cabinet in the lounge or the photo wall chronicling decades of mountain life.

Hospitality from the Heart

Unlike a typical hotel stay, here every interaction felt deeply personal. The family took time to learn my preferences, whether it was how I liked my coffee or my curiosity about local culture.

Mostly during evenings, they would invite me for high tea and talk about the legacy of the hotel, dated 37 years ago.

There are 14 beautiful well appointed cottages that offer surreal views of the mountains and valley.

My Deluxe room – Home in the clouds

The moment I entered my cottage, I felt at home. It was spacious yet cosy ; thoughtfully decorated with handcrafted wooden furniture, colourful handwoven rugs, and touches of local art.

A special note by the lovely hosts touched my heart.

Large windows framed uninterrupted views of the mountains, so even from the comfort of the bed, I could watch clouds drifting lazily across the peaks.

My cottage had a private balcony where I spent hours simply breathing in the crisp air, sipping tea, and watching clouds caressing the hills.

At night, the silence was so complete it felt like nature was tucking me in.The antique furniture, blended well with the soft texture on walls and upholstery – comforting and luxurious.

The poster bed with soft matress, duvet and comfortable pillows became my haven of uninterrupted sleep. My favorite corner was the desk and chair where I enjoyed pending down my thoughts.

The bathrooms were modern yet retained rustic charm, with natural stone elements and warm lighting that made them feel inviting after a day of exploring.

Wellness in the Mountains

While the hills provided the perfect backdrop for mental calm, the hotel also offered wellness experiences that left me feeling truly rejuvenated. This was the highlight of the hotel. Guests are given the benefit of in-house massage service to relax and drift off to sleep. I indulged in a traditional massage in the comfort of my room.

The therapist’s expert hands melting away every knot of the city stress. My room overlooked the valley, so I could hear birdsong and feel cool mountain breezes even during the treatment.

After a refreshing nap, post the therapeutic massage I got up for an in-room dining experience.

Food – Aromatic & flavorful spruced with love

The fragrant spread of lunch had aromas of slow-cooked curries, freshly baked rotis and locally sourced vegetables that filled the air. It wasn’t just lunch— it was a cultural experience, seasoned with love.

I cannot forget the Kangri dham experience, that had lentils, vegetables, rotis, salads and sweet rice. Each dish was vocal of the local flavors ,bursting with freshness and aromas that pleased the soul in each bite.

Later, I enjoyed a cup of warm lemon ginger tea, soaking in the views of the majestic mountains.

Gardens That Feel Like Nature’s Embrace

Surrounding the property were beautifully maintained gardens bursting with colour.

Fragrant roses, bright marigolds, and flowering shrubs lined stone pathways that wound their way through the grounds.

In the early mornings, dew-kissed petals sparkled in the sunlight, and the air was filled with the scent of blooming jasmine.

The gardens weren’t just for show — they felt alive. Birds fluttered among the trees, butterflies danced over the flowers, and a play area for children.

I often found myself wandering in the garden with a book, or simply sitting on a bench, soaking in the serenity.

Experiences Beyond the Stay

The family also went above and beyond to plan experiences tailored to my interests.

Guided hikes to hidden waterfalls, excursions to the local market & monasteries, and visits to nearby artisan workshops.

These weren’t touristy activities — they were glimpses into the rhythms of mountain life. The local market in Mcleodganj, only few minutes drive has several cafes and arti corners for tourists to explore.

Guests can also explore meditation courses or pottery workshops. These experiences felt more intimate and authentic than any brochure could offer, because they were shared with pride by people who truly belonged to this land.

A Farewell Full of Warmth

When it was finally time to leave, I realised that what made this place unforgettable wasn’t just the stunning location — it was the love, care, and sincerity woven into every moment.

In a world where travel often feels transactional, my stay at this lovely family-run hotel reminded me of the beauty of human connection.

The hills gave me breathtaking views, but Udechee Huts gave me something rarer — a feeling of belonging.

Dadhikar Fort – A heritage fort in Alwar

I have been to Alwar several times and yet each time I come back with a new experience. It’s near to Delhi and the best place for a getaway from the Delhi chaos. This time we chose to stay at a fort in the outskirts of Alwar. Dadhikar Fort – a heritage fort.

Our experience

After 3 hours by the morning shatabdi, we reach Alwar, and from the station to the fort, it took us half an hour.

Jeep ride

A rough patchy ride in a jeep for half an hour seemed like an eternity. The roads in Alwar are yet to be made properly, so be prepared for a bumpy ride. When you are coming by road, it’s advicable to come in SUV, or better to take the morning train, which is a smooth travel minus the tolls, road conditions or driving hassles.

The Dadhikar fort

After half an hour, we reach the fort. There was no fancy welcome s I expected, but a man with a colourful umbrella who greeted us with a smile. My mother in her 70’s was bold and courageous enough to walk up towars the reception.

I might warn you, if you have elders coming with you, its better you be prepared for an uphill walk as the fort has lot of stairs to reach rooms or the restaurant.

Rooms at Dadhikar Fort

The rooms at Dadhikar fort are’nt fancy at all. They are huge, with big balconies and tiny windows. The curtains and upholstery is basic. The room opens up to a big terrace. I could simply sit there for hours gazing into the green cover, the mountians and the moving clouds.

The beds in the rooms are simple, basic with ordinary bedspreads and pillows. The wardrobes are vinatage and so are the bedside drawers. There is a kettle with warm water, but no satchets for tea and coffee. The suite also has a small table with two chairs where one can enjoy tea and even a meal. Towards the other end of the suite, lies a small bed with pillows. The washroom is large with toileteries, towels and even a bucket. The rain shower was the worst i came across.

Dining

The food at Dadhikar fort is traditonal and realy flavorsome. The spices are light, easy to digest and very subtle. You willl enjoy any dish you order at the fort. We highly recommend you to try the daal baati and choorma. Their paranthaas are equally worth indulging.

Gardens around the property

Dadhikar Fort has beautiful gardens spread throughout. There is a huge lawn, perfect for destination weddings, and gardens near the reataurant, rooms and reception.

Cultural entertainment

On weekends when there is a large group, the artisans are called to entertain the guests with their folk music and cultural extravaganza. This should not be missed.

Cave paintings

Another experience that I really loved was a short expedition to the cave paintings. Local villagers in their free time used to make interesting carriacatures on the roof of the caves.

Alwar has the most scenic sightseeing spots. So I ventured out to these places with a guide and visited fileds, villages and the local people.

They are quite interesting to visit. You need to do a small trek through the fields, and climb rocks to see the art work. It’s advicable to wear sneakers to make your trek convenient.

Few things to note :

1. Avoid visiting this place in monsoons. We regreted it the moment we stepped in the fort, as we came across creepy crawlies in most of the corners.

2.You can get your pets but take care of them as there is a lot of height and no fencing in the balconcies or terraces.

3.There is no wi-fi in the room, so be prepared to use your mobile data.
