The Grand Trunk Culinary Trail @ Crowne Plaza Today Gurugram

Crowne Plaza Today Gurugram has always been synonymous
with extensive hospitality and warmth ushered by the efficient staff that ensures
the experience is memorable. The hotel hosted a food festival called GT Road
Culinary Trail at Café G. The Grand Trunk Culinary Trail covers Northern
Frontier, Undivided Punjab, Old Delhi, Undivided Bengal that is showcased individually each day. We visited the hotel to review their Awadhi cuisine on Monday and loved the experience.

The culinary trail is a true
amalgamation of flavors and aroma that invigorates the senses as you step
inside. The traditional Indian décor with objects d’art and music in the
background represent the beautiful North West India that accentuated the
delectable aromas of Awadhi cuisine.

We were introduced to the man
behind the flawless creation of the menu – Chef Nilesh Dey who comes with an
extensive experience with hotels like Taj and ITC.
His menu includes succulent dishes
that would pamper the taste buds with the best of vegetarian and non-vegetarian
culinary exquisite.
The aroma of the scrumptious food
ignited my appetite and I was all set to sail towards Awadhi cuisine. Mr. Umesh
Dalal, Head – F & B and Nilesh Dey joined us to make the culinary odyssey
more interesting.
His vast knowledge about the dishes is as interesting as the
variants of dishes. We were served delicious starters like the Lucknow special Kakori Kebab, Galauti Kebab, Brrah kaba and Murgh balai kabab. Extremely tender and delicious, the starters created a symphony that continued to linger for a long
time.

The main course that followed included dishes like Kham khatai, Baoli handi, Murgh bemisal, Mewe mackane ka querma, Dogra aalo
mashoor, Paneer khurchan
and Daal mughlai
handi
that we devoured with lachha parantha.

Intense and spicy, the non
vegetarian ones are highly recommended as the gravy is rich and the mutton is
well cooked.
The vegetarians can relish the Paneer
khurchan
and Mewe mackane ka querma
that are less spicy and more on the sweet side. We concluded the food festival
with traditional and International desserts, but my favorite was the Chakundar Ki Kheer, that justified the
traditional Lucknow aromas and flavors.
The experience at Cafe G was
delightful as we got to taste the finest vegetarian and non-vegetarian culinary dishes from Lucknow while enjoying the gracious presentation curated by Chef Nilesh.
The festival is on till 30th April 2018 and can be devoured for dinner from 18.30 to 2300 hours.
