Recently I had the chance to visit and experience a fine dining place called Qla, reputedly the most luxurious place in Delhi ; famous for the stunning view of Qutub Minar, the ambience and the delectable dining options.
Tucked amidst verdant green spaces, Qla is set on a quiet street in Mehrauli that faces the historical monument Qutub Minar. Qla is an elegant and spacious restaurant with plenty of dark wooden paneling and original Victorian features, but the highlight is the terrace space where we were invited for the food review. Sitting on the terrace surrounded by potted plants and huge trees, we felt amazed by the look and feel of the wide space.
The space was well lit and illuminated under the starry night on a cool winter evening. The experience was rather cherishable with the staff offering their best servers and full attention. Since it was a weekday, there were fewer guests.
The menu at Qla is simple. Here honest dishes have minimal ingredients and flavor does all the talking. I was impressed by the elegant but lively atmosphere that was created.
We had a selection of different starters to initiate the food review. We ordered for the Poached charred salmon and citrus chilli jumbo prawn. The former one was a tender salmon; one of the most characteristic fish I have come across, it was perfectly cooked and tasted delicious served with orange marinated green apple and horseradish fennel green emulsion.
The chilli jumbo prawn looked and tasted magnificent. An impressive course for any celebratory dinner. I was impressed by the generous portion of the prawn and pleased with the quality – it was beautifully presented and tasted buttery and totally divine.
The main course that we ordered was the multigrain smoked chicken. This was excellent, the chicken being incredibly tender. The accompanying sauce was complex and mildly spicy with delicate flavors.
We also ordered for a dry aged duck with pineapple later. Whilst duck may sound a little challenging for the palate, it was cooked beautifully and looked so scrummy with its dusting of red and orange spices. The smoked pineapple did adequate justice to the dish.
Despite almost reaching saturation level, we couldn’t help indulging in their desserts. We shared chef’s special desserts; that were deliciously light and perfect on the palette.
Verdict
We enjoyed our fine dining experience at Qla so much that almost three hours flew by without noticing. The cuisine certainly tastes authentic and is clearly cooked and served with pride. The presentation was particularly impressive, and it is, for this reason, I would choose Qla over other fine dining restaurants.
Qla is also well suited for corporate lunches, large family gathering like wedding or birthday celebrations. Next time when you plan to celebrate in style, you must consider the Qla for an exquisite experience.
