Desert Resort Mandawa – Luxury in the desert

The New Year unfolds with the most fabulous way as we got to experience a beautiful resort tucked in nature and surrounded by sand dunes.

I am referring to my latest travel to Mandawa where we experienced an amalgamation of luxury and culture at Desert Resort Mandawa.

The village resort looks breathtaking with its artistic décor and pleasant vibe spread throughout the property. As you enter the village resort, the welcoming staff takes you on a tour of the place.

I fell in love with the intricate carvings and design made so effortlessly by the artisans on the walls of each cottage.

Rooms

The Desert Resort offers a luxurious stay in the midst of a rustic landscape. From deluxe rooms and well-spaced cottages to one-bedroom suites as well as suites with interconnecting rooms specially designed for families, there are a range of options for guests to choose from. Spread across a flat expanse, with the majority of the rooms and cottages on the ground floor and easy access to all major venues, the resort is senior-citizen friendly. Besides that, you can also bring your pets at the resort as its pet friendly as well. they will love the open spaces to run around.

Furnishings in all rooms and cottages are made in-house in an effort to support local communities and their art—from hand-dyed curtains and block printed bedspreads to chairs that are created as  charpais.  We were lucky to find the best suite with gorgeous views of the mustard fields. The suite has a living room with artefacts and a spacious bedroom with attached balcony.

Amenities in each room include water bottles, Air conditioning, Electric kettle, Television, Tea/coffee sachets; mini refrigerator while the washroom included full range of bathroom amenities from boutique, Hair dryer. The rain shower with the glass makes a perfect bathing experience. I had the most comfortable sleep owing to the soft feather pillows and extra soft queen beds.

Activities – indoors and outdoors

Desert Resort Mandawa offers luxury camping in a beautiful setting with tons of activities to choose from including camel riding, field treks, and swings for children, desert safari on horseback, horse riding so you can fully immerse yourself in the experience. The indoor activities include table tennis, carom and other interesting activities to make the best of your time at the resort.

We loved the camel ride experience where we went through sand dunes and fields. The camel cart is comfortable and worth experiencing. There is also a stud farm near the resort, where you can find horses of different categories including cross breeds. If you know horse riding, take a session for an hour where the riding guide will take you for a brief riding around the stud farm.

Entertainment

The resort ensures guests are well taken care of with entertaining programs like puppet shows and live music performances. The children especially love the puppet show.

There are temples and cowshed where you can visit with the tour guide. The camp is spread across the Desert and looks out onto rolling hills leading up to the stunning view of the mustard fields – It is postcard-perfect, or even Insta-worthy. I would highly recommend the treks to these fields where they grow their own crops like wheat, radish, beans, cauliflower, rice, pulses and much more. The food at the restaurant is prepared by the ingredients sourced from the fields – perfect meal experience.

Dining

The desert resort mandawa has some of the best dishes to offer. The restaurant is done in a beautiful style, plastered with mud, decorated with mirror work with hand drawings to add more beauty to the dining space. Food is mostly buffet style, but you can order a-la carte as per your preference.

We loved their traditional thaali that comprised of vegetables, rice, rotis, daal baati and churma. The traditional thaali is worth experiencing as you get the flavor of true rajasthan hospitality.
